- further renaming of the distribution from "SUSE Linux" to "openSUSE"
- further X.org X11 R7.1 integration
- further refinement of patterns
- further libzypp improvements, the new version should be faster
- support to install multiple gcc versions in parallel
- removal of several unneeded SuSEconfig scripts
- no reboot after CD1, display of slideshow during all media
- YaST runs during installation in a window (the background is blue, this will change)
- Linux kernel 2.6.18-rc5_git6 using only SMP kernels, adaptation of all kmp and Xen packages
